Registration under Contract Labour Act 1970 & Registration under Building and other Construction Workers Act 1996 & Registration under Interstate Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1979
A) Introduction of Labour License
Licensing under Contract Labour Act: As per the provisions of Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1970 and Tamil Nadu Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules 1975, license is mandatory for every contractor who employees twenty or more workmen in an establishment located in the state of Tamil Nadu. This online approval is common to all such contractors and there is no discrimination based on risk category, size of firm / company, business location and Foreign / Domestic investor.
The principal employer of every establishment in which twenty or more workmen are employed as contract labour should apply in Form XII for registration of establishment through online portal along with the prescribed documents and payment of appropriate fees for registration to the concerned Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health.
Registration under Building and other Construction Workers Act 1996 : As per the provisions of Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1996 and Tamil Nadu Rules 2006, registration is mandatory for every establishment (in which ten or more ten or more building workers are employed) located in the state of Tamil Nadu. This online approval is common to all type of BOCW establishments and there is no discrimination based on risk category, size of firm / company, business location and Foreign / Domestic investor.
The employer of every BOCW establishment in which ten or more ten or more building workers are employed, should apply in Form I for registration of establishment through online portal along with the prescribed documents and payment of appropriate fees for registration to the concerned Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health (BOCW)

Licensing under Interstate Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1979 : As per the provisions of Interstate Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1979 and Tamil Nadu Rules 1983, license is mandatory for every contractor who employs five or more inter-state migrant workmen in an establishment located in the state of Tamil Nadu. This online approval is common to all such contractors and there is no discrimination based on risk category, size of firm / company, business location and Foreign / Domestic investor.
The principal employer of every establishment in which five or more inter-state migrant workmen are employed as contract labour should apply in Form XII for registration of establishment through online portal along with the prescribed documents and payment of appropriate fees for registration to the concerned Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health.
